Evaluation of Final Performance.
In my opinion I think the idea of my solo was portrayed really well, as I managed to successfully, show the difference between the movements inside and outside the box idea that came from my original stimulus, I feel like my performance on the day could have gone better as with not being able to practice because of my injury I found it very difficult to pick it back up on the day, especially with the small changes I made to the choreography that took away the jumps and the big impact that they had on my story line. I felt like I could’ve added more elements of performance specifically with facial expressions if I had, a little more time to rehearse, as I felt the idea of the “fake” happiness in the box could’ve been emphasised a lot more and reflecting back on it that is definitely what I would change to enhance.
I think throughout my choreographic journey looking at
different techniques and devices used by different practitioners has really enhanced
my piece and even whilst performing I noticed elements of my routine that I would
never have come up with, without accumulation, and top and tail exercises ect.
Also delving deep into crystal Pites pieces of work and career was really inspiring
and made me realise that a choreographic process is something very specific to
the individual creating it.
I personally really enjoyed choreographing my own material, I
do think it was difficult in the beginning, however once I had got it started and
had an end goal in mind, I found it a lot easier to come with ideas and add on
in more creative manner.
