Choreographic Devices- Practitioner Study

So in class we were given 3 categories, action, Space and Dynamics and we had to choose words for each section that we felt linked back to our stimulus and theme of our piece. For example we came up with ripple, and continuous, then isolations and sharp, and the reason we chose these is because our peice is very contrasting and includes some very sharp and dynamic movements to represent the confidence in the character and then some more sedate and lethargic movements perhaps performed more fluidly to emphasise the more hurt and concealed side to the character.

I then further experimented with this and created some movements using the words I had thought of and therefore made a little sequence in my own time, trying to incorporate these words into movements that followed each other smoothly.

I did some rippling motions and some sharper motions, so that i can emphasise the contrast in both feelings, and possibly implement that into the choreography I will create. I also used a range of levels, low to represent when someone may feel unconfident or insecure, and then higher levels to portray when someone may feel self-assured or perhaps they are just pretending they are okay.
I also did isolations with different body parts, for example, arms, ribs, hips and even just the eyes and this is to help emphasise the more decisive movements that portray the fake characters that can come through in social media.
